We present here the video created thanks to the enthusiasm and work of young people, children from Ghana, El Salvador and Catalonia, within the framework of the project “of citizenship, with an anti-racist approach and a gender and human rights perspective, funded by the ACCD.”

During the 2024–2025 academic year, we worked with young people, children from educational centres such as INS Puigvert in Barcelona; the schools Nasoyiri JHS, Mankuma JHS, Jentilpe JHS, Gbongbondori JHS and Kpongri JHS in northern Ghana; and from the community of El Cerrito, as well as with the collectives ADESCOSAN, Micelo Suburbano, AFROOS, MURLENCA, SERES, NANTAL and Amigos for Christ in El Salvador.

This video shows the work that, in a similar yet different way—adapted to local realities—we carry out in three points far apart on the planet, seeking spaces to reconnect with the land and with the fruits and knowledge it provides.

This academic year, we continue to work towards transformative education, and we have already begun with the students of INS Puigvert in Barcelona. Always alongside diverse role models in the classroom, we address the right to migrate, social and environmental justice, and the imperative need to be part of the necessary changes.

As one of the outcomes of the work done last year with diverse role models, we have the video “Adivina quien viene hoy a clase (Guess who’s coming to class today)” produced by Fora de Quadre, which was screened on the weekend of February 17th and 18th on Beteve.

We have also restarted the Service Learning project with the young students of the Environmental Sciences Degree at the University of Barcelona. This year, we presented in the session held in the Great Hall the video also produced by Fora de Quadre, which documents the work experience of the 2022-2023 academic year and it can be found on our website.

In the area of residential reception and support for migrants, we are introducing some changes in the reception model.

We continue to prioritize and mainly accommodate individuals in irregular situations who are in a vulnerable situation in the apartments we manage in Badalona and Sant Vicenç dels Horts (a total of 9 places). At the same time, we have set up a couple of places for individuals who, despite having a residence and work permit and employment, do not have the means to rent a room and/or apartment and need more support in their social inclusion process. We work towards this goal hand in hand with entities such as the Putxet Foundation.

To provide food to individuals in reception, we rely, among others, on the support of the Aurea Social Foundation.

In recent months, our job insertion project through agroecological production has received a boost with the expansion of cultivation space (we now have fields in Sant Vicenç dels Horts and in Sarrià) and the fact that we have gained a new group of supporters for our products: the Responsible Consumption Association of Families in Encants (Barcelona).

This agreement is part of a strategy we have initiated to widen sales channels towards consumer groups and make distribution increasingly viable.

In Ghana, we continue to work, placing our bets on local possibilities.

On one hand, with the seed bank, which preserves local seeds, serves as an educational tool about the importance of conservation, and distributes them among those who work the land.

On the other hand, with the mill, where locally grown organic grains are ground, seeking to create outlets for local organic products such as those from the Sawla Women’s Market.

And finally, we also continue with the seedlings, the “Nursery Trees“, with which forests that have been cleared for charcoal production are being reforested.

Farewell to Ana Elia

On one hand, Ana Elia, who has been a volunteer for many years and since 2020 a worker of the entity, leaves to open new paths, and we want to thank her for her dedication and professionalism. Thank you very much AnaElia and good luck in your new stage!

Despite the void she leaves, we continue working with enthusiasm and with some fantastic new additions that we present here.

Ceci’s Presentation

I am Cecilia Garcia Albareda. Last December, I started working at CEHDA where I hope to contribute to the team the experience I have gained in management and coordination of people in recent years working in the cooperation and development education sector.
I like people, traveling, learning about different cultures and ways of living, in a world that I aspire to be just, sustainable, and free from violence.

Ariadna’s Presentation

I am Ariadna Isern Creus. I joined the CEHDA team at the end of 2023 as a coordinator of economic management. I have a degree in political science, specialized in international relations, and experience in project management and I hope to make a positive impact on the entity and keep the entity’s economy running smoothly.
A lover of cats and global justice. I believe in what Gramsci said about “living means taking sides”.

Natalia’s Presentation

I am Natalia Hernández, Salvadoran, I have been working at CEHDA for 3 months. I am very happy to be able to share my experience and provide support in administrative tasks and in whatever is necessary in the entity.
Reading and listening to music are my windows to dream with open eyes and fight against inequalities.

We at CEHDA work to improve the opportunities of migrant people in Catalonia as well as to improve opportunities of rural communities in the Savannah Region of Ghana. We also work weaving intercultural networks that help break down stereotypes about migration and promote a more humane society. We are in the midst of a campaign called CEHDA 100/30 to welcome 100 new donor partners in 30 days! The new monthly donations we receive will go to:

1. support migrant people in Catalonia in risk of social exclusion.  We support them by offering permaculture trainings with the aim to finding work in the agricultural sector. We also offer activities to get to know the city and surroundings, accompanying them in the process of regularization of their status with the local administration – which includes looking for job offers that meet their needs.
   
2. support people in Ghana who consider migrating. If they choose to migrate is their right, but we work so that their choice to migrate is not informed by the lack of local possibilities that offer a bright future. Cocreating opportunities with local collaborators  is part of our work in Ghana.
   

In what follows we expose the reasons for you to become a donor partner of CEHDA:

• glocal: because in today’s global scenario we can’t blind ourselves to the fact that our behaviours and local actions (in your ‘hood, province, or country of residence) have and impact (social, economic, cultural, environmental, etc) very far from us; and vice-versa.  Therefore, we can’t ignore the impacts of our behaviours and life simply because they don’t affect us directly.
• just: because not everyone was born with, and grew up with, the same privileges, and  because competitiveness and individualism seems drive much of our surroundings.
• sostenible: because our human lives are “just a brief heart-beat” in the words of  Jorge Drexler. So, how not to think about all those who will come after us and about everything that lives around us!

• Because for the past 12 years we have been offering opportunities to people that allowed them to get very far, thanks to the support of donor partners and collaborators who believe in migrant justice and in sustainable practices. • Because at CEHDA we cocreate intercultural spaces that break stereotypes and bring together different communities in Ghana and in Catalonia. You are invited!
• Because in 12 years we have overcome many obstacles and have collectively learned a lot about how to accompany, care for, and work together for a fairer world, where migrating is a right at everyone’s reach.
• Because we are a small organization that supports a community that is often made invisible and in the Covid-19 era and post-Covid-19 era, we are going to need all the support we can get to stay afloat given all of the cuts that are being predicted.
• Because you know someone in the organization and gives you reassurance and confidence in our work.
• Because you stand in solidarity with migrant justice matters and are concerned about people not having equal opportunities.
